Sorry, but I think it also needs to be pointed out that this seems to be a British-centric project, which is perfectly fine, but should be identified as such from the title page. "exams first sat..." not only doesn't make sense, but sounds quite ridiculous to American ears. And someone is bound to bring up "private school vs, public" or use the term,"college." All of which is very confusing to students not familiar with British schools. Cuvtixo 22:29, 6 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Definition of Wikiversity on this page

I have not been the first to say that Wikiversity means many things to many people, but this defintion that is presented here to suggest that Wikiversity is a bookshelf (or bookshelf like structure) for Wikbooks is simply off base completely. I like the idea that a structure is being presented here on this topical division, but let's not confuse the issue here. Or more imporantly, try to draw undo importantce to this page to suggest that this organizational tool is somehow related to a much more developed and complete Wikiversity, that is also soon going to be on a completely independent website.

Certainly the idea that Wikiversity is for university level curriculum is simply outright wrong as well under any current understanding of Wikiversity. If we are to try and come up with an organizational structure for Wikibooks that would group all of the university level textbooks together on one page, we need to come up with a very different term than Wikiversity, if only to avoid the confusion with what will soon be a seperate Wikimedia sister project. --Rob Horning 17:34, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

I confess I am looking forward to the post-Wikiversity-as-a-separate-project era. As I understand it, there is no intention for the textbooks that currently sit within the Wikiversity section of Wikibooks to leave Wikibooks. Instead, the more personal/instructional elements of tuition will leave and will make reference to other Wikimedia resources (eg Wikisource for source material, Wikibooks for textbooks). This leave us here at Wikibooks with the question of how best to present the textbooks.
I have already suggested on Talk:Wikiversity that the Wikiversity project pages should move to the Wikibooks namespace, leaving only the textbooks, and the bookshelf, in the main module namespace. This bookshelf would include university level texts, which is what most, but not all (eg much of the Mathematics bit isn't), of the current Wikiversity books are at. In particular, as Wikibooks becomes more focused in its outlook, so our Wikiversity section should become like the rest of Wikibooks.
I am aware that using the same name for a university-level bookshelf on Wikibooks and the proposed project may be confusing. Maybe we should look for a Wikibooks-only name, or maybe the similarity of names will help linkages between the projects going forward.
Finally, I should add that developing this page, the Wikiprofessional page (and a future Wikilearn page for adult learning that I hope to develop too), is, as I see it, an aid to helping us improve our content - particularly that aimed at schoolchildren. I would very much like to go to Wikipedia soon and encourage Wikipedians over here to help us write quality textbooks closely directed at particular school syllabuses, Jguk 17:46, 8 June 2006 (UTC)
PS If Wikiversity is not meant to be for university-level tuition (and I confess I have never really worked out what it is for) then it is it that has the confusing name. :)
